Security National Bank of Enid, Park Avenue Thrift, Eagle Marketing and the Chisholm Trail Expo Center are once again joining forces to help raise funds for animals and animal related causes. Now in its sixth year the Enid Paws 4 the Cause Dachshund Dash will be held July 16th and will be raising funds for the Garfield County Regional K9 Training Facility.
Enid Paws 4 the Cause is a National Dachshund Foundation sanctioned event.
Three age groups of dachshund athletes will compete for the title of Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion which will qualify them for the national race in Finlay, Ohio. The age groups are; puppies 4 months to one year in age, adults one year to eight years in age and seniors eight years and up. All racers must be full blood dachshund. This year there will be additional races for “mixed breed dachshunds”. The Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion of those races will also qualify for the national race in Finlay, Ohio.
This is the seventh year for the event which continues to grow. Funds raised previously have helped; Bennie’s Barn, purchase two Enid Police Department K9 Partners, furnish trees and shrubs for Enid’s dog park, furnish watering stations for pets on the City of Enid’s Master Trail, provide outside adoption areas at the Enid Animal Shelter and help create shade for outdoor play at the Enid SPCA.
Owners may register their dachshund athletes at the Groom Closet 2005 West Chestnut Avenue. Registered dachshunds will be randomly drawn to be chosen to participate in the dash. Limited racing spots are available. There is a $20 registration fee for those racer’s registered by the July 01, 2016 deadline. Late registration fee for entries received after July 5, 2016 is $45.
